Arii’s 1/100 scale Regult Battle Pod from the Super Dimensional Fortress Macross TV Series is a great example. Manufactured and designed in 1982 this kit is one of the better kits from the line that builds up to a great representation of our favorite two-legged cannon fodder monster, although not without some minor faults.

Oh no! This is a training aircraft.

I am sure this was a memorable purchase for many at San Diego Comic Con 2009.

Are you sick of Macross toys? Korea isn't!

While it would have been nice to see Max's movie-ver. VF-1S come out in 1/55 scale, this one is equally appreciated, and hearkens (if in appearance only) back to his VF-1A from the series which was white with blue trim (which also has not been make into a 1/55 Valkyrie yet).

This set is still great despite my biggest complaint being the trivial-only odd coloring of the Super FAST Pack.

I’ll come forward and admit that Ichijyo’s coloring scheme and the head were never really favorites of mine, so there is a little prejudice there. But, I cannot say at all that [this] minor issue detracts in any way from the overall quality of the toy. I still love the Takatoku Toys 1/55-scale sets, and this set is no exception.

Even though 19 years have passed since its initial release, this set remains a solid example of quality Japanese toy engineering. Its proportions may not be completely show-accurate- the toys are often lovingly referred to as “chunky monkey”- but the die-cast arrangement, durability, and realistic transformation makes it a standout.

With the impending release of Waves new Destroid model kits I thought I would go back and revisit an old favorite and reevaluate the 1/100 Destroid Defender "Angel Face" kit and see if our little fork-toed friend still holds up to today’s modeling standards.

VF-1S with SUPER and STRIKE Parts (Hikaru Ichijo) is the latest release from Yamato in their newer Macross line. While I am hard pressed to come up with new ways to discuss this fantastic line I do like it, a lot!

The Yamato Destroid Defender is really a fantastic toy, with the only drawback being the price. At about 9,800 yen (about $100 USD) this makes a huge dent in your paypal account, but it really is the Destroid you wish they made in 1985.
